Mandi’s wedding was chock-full of lovely little details, from the pretty geometric print pale yellow table runners to the coral blooms arranged on her Dulce Desserts cake. She wore a figure-flattering all-lace dress and personally handmade a lot of the decor. Oh, and need I mention the scrumptious grits bar they served? DELICIOUS.

What a joy it was getting to know Shannon during the process of her planning.  She thought of everything – how could she not, she had been planning this for a very long time. She and Chris had actually been a couple  since she was 13 I believe.  And her creativity certainly came naturally. Shannon’s mom Kelly Silver is shop owner to The Silver Boutique and has many talents from little girl clothes to invitations to flower boxes. They were quite the crafty team and not only am I excited about showcasing this beautiful wedding but also in working with Kelly in the future (she just designed my cousin’s wedding invitations).  Here’s a sneak peak from Burkey Photography’s blog. How You Met:

Kyle and Ali met at UT in the fall of 2008 and began dating shortly after. Kyle and Ali enjoy all kinds of traveling, especially cruising.  They also enjoy many outdoor activities together such as snowboarding, hiking, boating, and attending UT sports, just to name a few.  They also love spending time with their puppy Boomer!

How He Proposed:

In June 2011, Kyle and I flew out to Denver, Colorado for a good friend’s wedding.  Since it was my first time out there and we couldn’t go snowboarding, we decided to go on a little hike to the Royal Arch.  This little hike turned out to be more of a “little” mountain climb. We finally reached the top, out of breath, and thirsty because we didn’t bring near enough water. Shortly after we caught our breath, Kyle got on his knee to propose and I said yes!!

Why Front Porch Farms?

Front Porch Farms is a gorgeous, southern style home and surrounding area.  The ceremony and reception are sure to be a celebration!

How we met?

Jack and I met in class at Belmont University.  It was her last general education requirement and my first class in what turned out to be one of my majors.  Jack described her initial thoughts of me as “cocky and arrogant,” but what else would a Pittsburgh native think of a Cincinnati boy.  We somehow overcame our distaste for the other’s football teams, and our casual conversations and walks from class turned into something better than either one of us had ever hoped for.  Belmont’s motto is “From here to anywhere,” although its really corny, that really was the case for us.

How I proposed?

I first knew I was going to propose when Jack left Nashville for law school in Cincinnati.  There is something about distance that either makes or breaks a relationship, and although it was incredibly difficult, it definitely made it very apparent that we were meant to be together.  I have never been a showy person.  I wanted to surprise Jack, without making a big deal about it.  I picked the ring out myself.  It was Jackie’s weekend to come down to Nashville, but little did she know that I had other plans.  I left work early on Thursday and made the quickest drive from Nashville to Cincinnati that I think anyone has ever made.  I showed up at her front door in a suit, with white roses in one hand (my first gift I ever got her) and a ring in the other.  She was completely surprised, and one of the first things she said was “…but I’m already packed for Nashville.”

Why Front Porch Farms?

Although our career choices have taken us away from the city we both call home, we knew that we wanted to have our wedding in Nashville.  I can’t take any credit for finding Front Porch Farms, Jack did all the work.  Besides the obvious beauty of the setting, I think Front Porch fits our personality together perfectly.  It will be a less formal ceremony and a great party…a perfect place to start our life together.

How You Met:

Todd and I were introduced by our daughters Molly and Ashley, who were/still are best friends at BGA in Franklin.  We were both single parents and the girls started hanging out more and more together. Todd and I shipped either one of the girls back and forth for sleepovers, lake weekends etc. and eventually actually stopped in the garage one day and talked.

The girls’ hangouts started to turn in to all of us hanging out together and eventually Todd invited me on a lunch date.  Things really blossomed from there and we ultimately became our own little family.

We all live together in Franklin, TN and have had some great times together. Todd proposed to me on my birthday this year, which was a huge surprise.  We were getting ready to go out to dinner and they were giving me presents.  The girls did not know he was going to propose and asked him where his present was….at which point he got extremely emotional and actually, I asked him if he was ‘dumping me.”

But he got down on one knee and proposed.  It was lovely, with the girls right there, beaming like Cheshire cats.  The girls are so excited for the wedding – this is a huge deal for them both and who could wish for more than to be with your best friend forever?

Why Front Porch Farms?

We picked Front Porch Farms because of the beautiful location and we felt that it was the right place for our family and friends to just come and relax and have fun without formality.  This is a second marriage for us both and we had no desire for a traditional and uptight ceremony and reception.  Kathy impressed us so much when we came to visit and actually the girls and I were pretty sold on it from the minute we found it on line.  The hardest part for me was convincing everyone that I did not want a country wedding (I am English and they all thought I was trying to be ‘country’ – the difference for me was Front Porch Farms said “elegant wedding in the country – there is a big difference for me.)

We can’t wait to spend our big day there, get married under the tree and party the night away.

Words from the sweet bride:

“When meeting Kathy at Front Porch Farms for the first time we were relieved to find someone who was happy and excited about providing a wedding venue and helping us plan our wedding. I am not a bride that has had my wedding imagined since I was a little girl and was not quite sure where to start. Kathy helped suggest vendors and put us in contact with amazing photographers (Cheyenne Ward & Laci Wilson) and an amazing bakery (Mrs. J’s). As a very busy nursing student, I did not have much time in the months leading up to the wedding to do much planning and Kathy and Brian were able to help me get the last minute ideas/details/decorations nailed down.

“On the day of the wedding we had a couple hiccups as a storm had come through and caused a tree to fall onto the road to the venue. I had no idea any of this had even gone on until the sun came out and it was time to walk down the aisle. How He Proposed:

November 4, 2011, happened on a trip to Puerto Rico. Mae Mae’s weekly travel for work racked up enough rewards to stay at the St. Regis Bahia Beach for FREE! It was Josh’s birthday weekend, so that was a great cover up for Josh’s real purpose of the trip…proposing to Mae Mae! While Mae Mae thought Josh was acting funny leading up to the Puerto Rico trip, she didn’t want to be that girl reading into situations, so she convinced herself it was just a birthday trip. In the meantime, Josh had been designing the ring and asking Mae’s family for permission. She started with her dad, but soon found himself talking to her mom, brother, aunts, uncles and cousins. He only gave them 48 hours notice, because he knew that her big Italian family would not be able to keep a secret like that for too long. When the trip began we met up in the Atlanta airport and hopped a flight down to San Juan. It was a long day of travel for Mae Mae, so when they got to the hotel she was just ready to eat and relax. Josh had other things in mind. His original plan was to propose on the beach at sunset, but we didn’t make it to the hotel on time. Instead, we jetted off to dinner at a Puerto Rican restaurant at the resort. After a delicious, traditional Puerto Rican dinner, Josh suggested we get back to the hotel by walking along the beach. Mae Mae gladly obliged, because we hadn’t been on the beach yet! It was dark, but a big moon filled the sky and lit up the beach. Being a Florida girl, Mae Mae was instantly excited when her feet hit the sand. While Josh had decided that on this walk he would propose, Mae Mae’s mind was elsewhere. She was frolicking, being super chatty and doing silly yoga poses. Meanwhile, Josh was trying to lead the conversation into a calm, loving talk to sweeten up Mae Mae before he popped the question. Alas, Mae Mae finally settled down and let Josh shower her with loving conversation. Then, Josh asked if he could read a poem that he prepared for her. This wasn’t shocking to Mae – he had been writing a lot of poetry lately, and Mae had already teased him about writing his poetry about everything but her. Josh pulled out a fake candle that he swiped from the table at dinner when Mae wasn’t looking, and held it out over the notecards as he read the poem. Meanwhile, Mae thought nothing of this odd candle and was enjoying this beautiful poem that Josh has written about her (thinking, “it’s about time he wrote me a poem!”) She didn’t quite realize exactly what was going on until he got to this stanza…


Then, a stone
The octahedral son of the earth’s mantel
And the daughter of a cutter, much like me
A stone surgeon
Brutality manifest as beauty,
Then beauty shared with beauty


As Josh knelt down and pulled out the ring, Mae Mae realized that beauty shared with beauty was this ring being shared with her. While Josh read the final stanza of the poem (a bit choked up), Mae Mae was crying and said “YES” even before Josh could fully finish the question “Will you marry me?” He asked the full question again just to make sure it was official! Then the silliness set in. Josh was howling at the moon and Mae Mae was doing more yoga poses. We hugged and laughed and were filled with so much love and excitement. Then we sat in a beach cabana and Mae Mae made Josh tell her everything leading up to this moment – how he knew it was the right, how he picked out the ring, how he asked the whole family, and how he hid in the ring in his pocket for a whole week! It was a beautiful night, and an amazing start to the rest of our lives together.

Love Story: Kamron and Erin

Wedding Date:  June 3, 2012

Kamron and I met in high school. Well, apparently we met a little bit earlier in life, as babies. We lived in the same town, knew the same people, but because we both attended different private schools we had never crossed paths.

Station Camp was going to be Sumner County’s newest high school, it was set to open our freshmen year. We both left our separate private schools to attend the new high school. We meet our freshmen year and shared the same english class together. Kamron played basketball while I was involved in several clubs/organizations. We became friends at first and enjoyed “hanging out” or whatever high school kids typically do.

Fast forward to the summer before our junior year of high school. We started to hang out more and more. On August 17th, 2004, Kamron came to visit me at my work (life-guarding at a neighborhood pool). He said he had something he wanted to ask me. After I closed pool for the night, we sat outside and he proceeded to officially ask me out. He told me that night he wanted this relationship to last. Well folks, that was 7 years ago, and lasted it has!

After finishing high school together in 2006, we began college. Those 4 years were a stressful blur of work and school. Neither Kamron nor I enjoy school, we just wanted it to end! We both graduated on the same day in May 2010 from Middle Tennessee State University – one of our happiest days! Kamron began working in the music industry and I continued with my job at Arzelle’s.

On August 16th, 2011. My sister and I had planned to take pictures at her friend’s barn for our blog. After we got to her friend’s house, I was told to go down to the barn to scope out places for pictures. The difficult person that I am, I was not going down there by myself. As I was standing in the drive way, I called Kamron because I knew he would be getting off work. He answered and said he was just leaving work and would talk to me later. My sister came out and told me to go down to the barn, which I thought was a little strange. As I walked closer to the barn, I saw Kamron’s car parked in a field…  Confused, I keep walking. I saw Kamron in front of this beautifully decorated barn. And I was in awe. It looked like a magazine! Knowing our 7 year anniversary was the next day, I figured this was just for celebration. I was not at all thinking we would get engaged. After he finally got me to sit down, he popped the big question underneath this awesome chandelier, the same one we plan on using our wedding day. We have been together for almost 8 years, but it has flown by. We are just best friends who enjoy nothing more than spending time together. We couldn’t be more excited about our future and what God has in store for our lives together as husband and wife. We both are incredible blessed with loving and supportive families! Can’t wait for 6.3.12!
