Hi, We’re Kathy & Brian. People always ask us when they visit our venue, “So you actually live here?” Yes we do! I’m sure to many it’s crazy that we open up our home every week to strangers and maybe it is but we are having so much fun sharing our home with happy couples and their friends and family from all over the country. We’ve met so many great people and call many our friends.
Brian and I met 14 years ago. He was a firefighter working across the street from my home in East Nashville and I was a single mom of a two year old boy who loved fire trucks. You can guess what happened next – he showed my son Preston around the fire hall, let him ride on the engine and “rescued” me in the process!
We bought this property, was married under the big oak tree and lived in our “barn” (now the groom’s cottage) while we built our dream home. Preston is now 16 and was recently on The Voice (Season 11/Team Blake), Hunter is 24 and works at Vanderbilt, Benjamin is 15 attending Fairview High School and is on the baseball team. We also have a 8 year old daughter, Katie Ryan who is home schooled and on the NAC swim team. She was our surprise baby and pretty much runs the household!
Aside from planning weddings and events at Front Porch Farms and other venues, I ran a publicity firm in the country music industry called FrontPage Publicity. For 20 years, I handled some of country music’s biggest stars including George Strait, Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert, the Dixie Chicks, Naomi Judd, Taylor Swift, Dierks Bentley, Travis Tritt among others.
Brian, a Nashville native, is stationed at the downtown Nashville Firehall. His brother and father (now retired) also firefighters. In addition to “protecting and serving,” Brian keeps everything going here. He built our home as well as the pavilion, bridal suite, farm tables and many of the props. Together, we handle events at this venue as well as other places from time to time – most recently Universal Records’ CMA After Party, Kasey Musgrave’s Christmas album release, Brantley Gilbert’s wedding and Don Henley & Luke Bryan album release parties. It’s a lot of hard work but so rewarding to see happy faces at the end of the night!
If you stop by on a weekday, you may see us outside tending to landscaping, building props or yelling at the kids. But if its a beautiful weekend night, you can drive by and look up the hill at the magic of string lights, music and laughter. We think it’s a fabulous way to live!
